From a pencil line to hundreds of stitches
Every piece is drawn and embroidered completely by hand.
The steps
- Sketch: every piece starts as a pencil drawing.
- Trace: the sketch is transferred onto cotton-linen in the hoop.
- Outline: fine black backstitch gives the drawing its shape.
- First colours are filled in thread by thread.
- Layering: satin and long-and-short stitches build depth.
- Details: stripes, trims and highlights.
- Finishing: skin tones and last details.
- Done: ready to hang.

- Stranded cotton embroidery threads
Stitches we use
- Backstitch for outlines, faces and lettering
- Satin stitch for smooth fills
- Long and short stitch for shading
- French knots and florals for raised texture
