Choosing thread colours for a name piece
How to pick colours that look beautiful on the fabric and feel like the person wearing it.

Colour is the first thing people notice in an embroidered name. A few simple rules make it easy to choose.
Start with the fabric
Light fabrics like white and cream suit almost any colour. On darker fabrics, brighter and lighter threads stand out best.
Keep it to three or four colours
One main flower colour, one accent and green for leaves is usually enough. Too many colours can make the letters harder to read.
Think about the person
- Soft pinks and lilacs feel gentle and romantic.
- Warm oranges, reds and yellows feel cheerful and bold.
- Blues and whites feel calm and fresh.
