How to care for your hand embroidery
A few simple habits keep your hoop or embroidered tee looking fresh for years.

Hand embroidery is made to last, but threads are delicate. With a little care your piece will stay bright and neat for a very long time.
Caring for hoops
- Hang it away from direct sunlight, which slowly fades thread colours.
- Keep it away from damp walls, kitchens and bathrooms.
- Dust it gently with a soft, dry makeup brush every few weeks.
- Never wash a framed hoop. If there is a small stain, dab it lightly with a barely damp cloth.
Caring for tees and sweatshirts
- Turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or use a gentle machine cycle inside a laundry bag.
- Do not scrub or wring the embroidered area. Press the water out with a towel instead.
- Dry flat or on a hanger in the shade.
- Iron on the reverse side, with a thin cloth between the iron and the stitches.
